Listing Description

“Worldwide plastic consumption is growing by millions of tons every year. And millions of these tons are released into the environment every year. In the oceans, there are huge plastic garbage strudel for some years. The largest is the size of Europe. This is the visible plastic in the environment. In addition there is microplastic in rivers, lakes and seas. This is not visible. For example, microplastics are contained in cosmetics and enter the environment via the wastewater unfiltered. It has already been detected in beer, honey and tap water.

Large pieces of plastic are confused with food by marine life. There are growing dead whales and turtles, which are washed ashore with full plastic stomachs on the coasts. Researchers assume that about 90% of all seabirds have plastic in their stomach. Fish and other smaller marine creatures eat the microplastic particles in the sea. There, these particles release toxins such as plasticizers. And in the end, they get on our plates.

Plastic contains numerous pollutants that can leach out and enter the human body. Whether by microplastic, from the plastic water bottle or packaging. Plasticizer and bisphenol A for example. These chemicals are detected in the blood of almost every human being. They work in a similar way to hormones – and can thus disrupt the sensitive hormone system. Numerous studies have shown that these plastic chemicals trigger diseases. From cancer to behavioral disorders. By your own behavior, however, you can minimize the amount of chemicals in your own blood. “
